MAS operations are complex and require a lot of knowledge, expertise, and equipment. One facility can rarely control the whole chain – from buying, calibrating, operating, and piloting MAS to producing high quality data and training new operators. Today, in Europe, more than 60 institutions and companies work with MAS, whether operating systems or providing services to MAS users (manufacturers, data assembly centers, etc). As a result, valuable knowledge, expertise, and equipment is scattered throughout Europe.

By linking together different facilities in Europe, GROOM RI can optimally coordinate the whole data value chain and efficiently provide high quality services. 14 facilities (also called nodes) are part of the GROOM II project and collaborate for the benefit of Science and Research.
